HISTORY
Our founder, Paul Bezuidenhout first began to put timber together to build mats in 2008. He saw the need for a solution to the problem of on-site work stoppages after heavy rains. After the industry initially started using loose lumber to build up the road beds and work surface, we realized that using pre-assembled mats would be easier, cleaner, less costly and work much better. Shortly after we began to fashion the first mats in our backyard, the matting idea caught hold, sparking an entire industry that served customers in nearly every sector of construction and transportation. In September 2012 we started with transporting services consisting of a twelve ton Roll Back, and two Kia LDV’s.
OVERVIEW
SA Timber and & Transport Middelburg, Mpumalanga is a hardwood mat producer in South Africa, producing lumber mats. Our extensive product mix includes, quality hardwood dragline mat products, Crane mats, Pipeline mats/skids and custom mats. Our hardwood grade lumber includes a large variety of hardwood species including: Eucalyptus, Rhodesian Teac etc.
Since consistent quality production of hardwood mats and lumber requires a readily available supply of logs, SA Timber & Transport Middelburg, Mpumalanga directly controls and personally harvests over 75% of the logs sawn in the mill. The remaining 25% is purchased from outside log suppliers. With a log procurement force and over 20 personal logging crews running state of the art equipment designed specifically for South African logging conditions, we are able to insure a consistent log flow into the mill year round.
In an increasingly global and ever changing business environment, we are always conscious of our customers' ever changing needs. We strive to satisfy our current customers with quality products.
We are currently the largest Timber Mat and Crane Mat producer in South Africa. Our custom built Timber Mats can be developed up to 2.5 meters wide, 300 mm thick and 6 meters long. We manufacture all mats as per customer's requirements.
We have access to Multiple Log storage facilities to ensure a steady inventory through the wet months. This inventory is readily available to construct Hardwood Mats, Crane Mats, Swamp Mats, Dragline Mats, Bridge Mats and Construction Mats.
We serve the Mining Industry, the Transmission Industry, the Pipeline Industry and every other Industry that requires a Mat. These industries use our Timber Mats, Hardwood Mats, Crane Mats, Construction Mats, Bolted Dragline Mats, Bridge Mats, Swamp Mats, Rig Mats and Pipeline Skids.
SA Timber and Transport Middelburg, Mpumalanga also supplies timber for the Chipboard industry for the use of cupboards, furniture, ect. SA Timber & Transport also supplies a transporting service for all timber.
